Progress Note #2 "Breaking Routine"

Okay, sooo Monday was SUPPOSED to be gym time with the team for an hour then promptly off to practice.
An hour before I was supposed to leave, a torrential downpour ensued. Power flickering, cable out, yard flooding, the whole she-bang.
Now, in Charleston, when it rains it floods really bad. Speaking from a few different instances where I have trudged through the rain to make it to practice and 1 of 2 things always happen. . .
1. Stuck on the island for a while
2. It takes 2 hours to get to practice due to traffic.

So I made the executive decision to stay home. I was really bummed. I wanted to go to the gym and I wanted to skate with the B-team.

Let me start first, by saying how I have always been real adamant in the past about going the gym. I had prided myself in hating gyms. Well, sometimes you have to break old habits in order to become something newer and better.

So I went to the local gym up the street and completed the following:
4:00 plank w/ transition (w/o coming down)
25 man pushups
1:00 minute worth of jump squats
1:30 of 6-inch leg lifts
1:30 of wall squats

30:00 on the treadmill. Now, since I suck at running I speed walked the first 20 getting warmed up to run. The last 8 minutes I ran at a decent pace, but the final 2 minutes (think 2-minute jam) and ran my ASS off.

I have never ran on a treadmill in a serious manner so, when the treadmill does that automatic slow shit towards the end, I just bumped my speed back up to where I was.
I got off the treadmill and I felt like I had been drugged. It was then pointed out to me that you should slow down so it makes the transition from moving floor to stationary floor at little less discombobulating.
Small kitten chasing its tail, do not know the cat will dizziness it

So even though I missed practice AGAIN plus a gym visit, I really think I made up for it. I really like that gym (granted, I haven't been to many lol) I think I membership is in my future.
